Beta-actin Monoclonal Antibody

PRIMARY ANTIBODY

Beta-actin Monoclonal Antibody

A mouse monoclonal antibody for the detection of beta-actin (ACTB) in Western blot and immunofluorescence applications.

Product Overview

Beta-actin, also known as ACTB or cytoplasmic actin 1, is a highly conserved cytoskeletal protein involved in maintaining cell structure, integrity and motility. It belongs to the actin protein family and is widely expressed in many mammalian tissues and cell types.

Because beta-actin is commonly expressed at relatively high levels, it is frequently used as an internal reference protein in Western blot experiments. It can also serve as a reference gene in quantitative PCR studies, provided its expression stability has been validated under the experimental conditions.

This Beta-actin Monoclonal Antibody is generated using recombinant human beta-actin protein as the immunogen. It is suitable for Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) applications.

Key Features

  • Monoclonal mouse antibody
  • Target: Beta-actin (ACTB)
  • Reactivity: Human, mouse, rat and zebrafish
  • Validated applications: Western blot and immunofluorescence
  • Antigen affinity purification
  • Unconjugated antibody

Applications

Western Blot (WB)

Beta-actin is frequently used as a loading control to help assess protein loading and transfer consistency between samples. The expected observed molecular weight for this antibody is approximately 43 kDa.

Immunofluorescence (IF)

Immunofluorescence enables the visualization of beta-actin distribution in cells and supports studies of cytoskeletal organization and cellular morphology.

Experimental Considerations

For Western blot experiments, the recommended starting dilution is 1:1000–2000. For immunofluorescence, a starting dilution of 1:100–200 is recommended. Optimal working concentrations may vary depending on the sample type, fixation method and experimental conditions.

Although beta-actin is widely used as a reference protein, its expression should be evaluated under the specific experimental conditions. Researchers should confirm that it remains stable across the samples being compared before using it as a normalization control.
